Ode to the Zero

Ode to the Zero:

As I look upon the grades tonight, Assembled zeroes march with might, Triumphant in their mission here, To sink an average once held dear.

They tell the tale of "meant-to-do's," of "could've's," "didn'ts" and "when's that due?" The power of this simple digit, that makes you look like quite the ijit.

It doesn't stop when ranks come out, but lingers when the parents shout. "Why did you fail that project son? Your teacher says it wasn't done!"

There is one thing I do confess, When grading kids, there is less stress, 'Cause even though they make you sick, To grade a zero is VERY quick!

-Jeff Bailey (after finishing the last grades for semester 1)
