STEP SEVEN:  How Right is it?

Reviewing your work is always important in any situation, but especially in note taking.  When you are reading and writing one thing down, you have lost track of the BIG PICTURE.  So it is always important, when you think you are done, to ask yourself a few questions.

  1. Do my notes make sense?  By looking at ONLY the notes could you tell someone about what you read?

  2. Are my notes is an order that makes sense?

  3. Do my notes get to the point but also include key information?  Sometimes you may need to have something to represent EACH paragraph of your source or sometimes less than that.

  4. Did I do the format correctly?  Check the examples below to see if yours does the same thing.

  5. Are my notes labeled or cited?  Do you know what source this is for?  (For help with citations in MLA style go to www.easybib.com)
