How do I use this site?
Just getting started? In that case, you should take the tutorial which will teach you how to take notes.
I've taken the tutorial. In that case, you can find the different forms of note taking with examples and templates by clicking on Step 3 or Step 4 here or in the process below. Make sure you are on a computer that has Inspirations 6.0 or higher if you plan to download the template for use, otherwise you can simply print the regular template.
No matter what class you might be taking, what you might read at school or in your spare time, you will need to understand what you have read. Most people benefit from jotting down some key ideas and examples of what they have just read.
Many research studies have shown that note taking improves student achievement when actually taught in the classroom.
This skill is expected in most high school courses and in most college and vocational courses.
Studying for tests and quizzes is easier when you have notes to look at.
How hard can taking notes be anyway? Isn't it easy? In other words (I already know this!!!)
Some people DO take good notes but are only used to ONE format. This limits your ability to do well in other subjects and with different types of texts.
Note taking involves many complex thought processes. Many good note takers don't consciously think of the steps involved, however, understanding those skills and how they work can improve your skills.
Practice makes perfect.
If you feel like you already know this, try going through the tutorial for review. It is designed to be taken at your own pace.
